Wow, what a beautiful time of year!
We’re so lucky to live in this gorgeous place, with the peace and serenity provided by the forest surrounding us.

THE 6TH FLOOR FOUNTAIN AREA
Adrien Balazs and Scott Guernsey have worked hard to make the 6th floor fountain area a welcoming place for neighbours to sit and enjoy a drink or a cup of coffee, perhaps have a picnic lunch or play a card game. Several conversation areas have been set up with patio sets that some residents have donated. (Thank you, donors!)

Already, groups of residents have been enjoying the warm, sunny weather and the lovely view of the forest, while relaxing and getting to know their neighbours and guests better.

COMPOSTING
If you’ve embraced composting, pat yourself on the back! For older folks, it’s not easy to break the habit of tossing everything in the garbage. But hey, we can all learn!

By the way, did you know that you must use special biodegradable composting bags? Here is one such bag, available at many grocery stores. If you use bags that are not specifically made for composting, sadly the composting pickup folks will not pick up any of the composting bags in the bin.

THE DISTRICT OF NORTH VANCOUVER HAS IMPLEMENTED LEVEL 3 WATER RESTRICTIONS

These restrictions, which took effect on June 8th, are needed because of a combination of warm, dry weather, a low snowpack and temporary pipeline maintenance work on the regional water supply.

Water use in North Vancouver can increase by 50% in summer and early fall, as water is used for swimming pools, growing food, maintaining sports fields, and other uses. But a lot of water is also used to water our lawns, wash our decks or driveways, and for other lower priority uses.

Level 3 Water Restrictions are an effective way to help use our precious drinking water wisely.

WHAT EXACTLY ARE THESE LEVEL 3 WATER RESTRICTIONS?

Starting June 8, 2026:

•All lawn sprinkling is completely prohibited.

• You can only water trees, shrubs and flowers by hand, using a watering can or a hose with an automatic shut-off device. You can also use drip irrigation. No sprinklers or soaker hoses are allowed.

• Washing vehicles and boats on MT property is prohibited, except for spot cleaning of windows, lights, mirrors, license plates or boat engines. Commercial, water-efficient car washes are permitted.

•Washing driveways and decks is strictly prohibited, unless done by a commercial cleaner for specific health and safety reasons, or to prep a surface for painting.

Note that water conservation officers will be monitoring our water usage and they will enforce the restrictions. The fine for violating the restrictions is $350.
